Recovery massage

Recovery massage, in plain words

Whether it was the mountain, the miles or a week at the desk, a session starts with where you're sore and ends when your time is up.

We work the muscles you used: quads, calves and feet after a day on skis; hips and hamstrings after a long run; neck, shoulders and the backs of your legs after a week of sitting.

  • Bare-handed, draped, at the pressure you choose

  • 30, 60 or 90 minutes

  • Your therapist stops whenever you ask

A session

A session, step by step

The same four steps whatever the length. A longer session gives the work more time.

  1. 01

Step 1: A talk at the table

Where you're sore, how firm you like it, and what to leave alone. A couple of minutes, and part of your time.

  2. 02

    Step 2: The warm-up

Slow strokes on a warmed table, and hot towels if you asked for them.

  3. 03

    Step 3: The work

Longer, deeper work on the places you named, with a check on pressure along the way.

  4. 04

    Step 4: The finish

A few minutes to sit up slowly, a glass of water, and a word about when to come back.

After an injury

After an injury, with your doctor's go-ahead

We offer massage after an injury only once your doctor has said it's all right. We don't diagnose, and we don't replace your doctor's care.

  • Bring their instructions

A note, a printout or a photo of what you were told. We read it before you get on the table.

  • Tell us what's off limits

The joint, the muscle, the movement. We leave it alone unless your instructions say otherwise.

  • We stop when you say

Say stop or ease up at any point. We stop, check in, and carry on only if you want to.

Questions

About recovery massage

What's the difference between 60 and 90 minutes?

An hour covers the whole body once, with extra time on two or three places. Ninety minutes gives the whole body and a second pass on the places you named.

Do I get undressed?

To whatever you're comfortable with. You're draped with a sheet the whole session, and only the area being worked is uncovered. Your therapist steps out while you get settled.

Can I ask for a certain therapist?

Yes. Book with Osmar, Aman or Jami from the booking page, or call and we'll match you to the work.

What if I'm not sure I'm cleared to book?

Ask your doctor first. We'll hold the time if you call, and we'd rather you wait for the go-ahead than guess.
